Vietnam Wealth Management Forum 2017

When: September 7, 2017
Where: Park Hyatt Saigon, 2, Công Trường Lam Sơn, Bến Nghé, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Organiser: Hubbis
The event is focused on understanding the longer-term potential for wealth management in Vietnam and how to prepare for it. With a population fast-approaching 100m– around half of which is under 30 – it has been rapidly transitioning to a market-based economy. In the absence of many wealth management products and services that are common in other markets, transaction banking dominates. Only around 30 per cent or so of the population has a bank account. Banks are not allowed to sell mutual funds unless they have a securities licence and they are not allowed to offer dual-currency investments. The event is aimed at senior participants in retail banks, local asset management firms, insurance companies and other players interested in the development if wealth management in Vietnam. Speakers will provide insights from experts in overseas markets to understand wealth management, share best practices and review the components of successful businesses.

China Wealth Management Forum 2017

Where: Ritz Carlton, Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai IFC, 8 Century Avenue, Shanghai, Lujiazui, Pudong 200120
When: November 23, 2017
Organiser: Hubbis
The event follows rapid growth in the onshore market in terms of numbers of high net worth and ultra high network individuals and greater demand for wealth preservation, planning and inter-generational transfer. Driving this trend towards estate planning is the increasing number of clients entering their mid-50s and early-60s. With these developments has come more penetration of managed wealth offerings in China on the back of innovation by local wealth mangers. Chinese markets remain the major investment focus and allocation for wealthy Chinese, despite the growing internationalisation of their investment strategy. The product and service aspects of China’s wealth management market need to evolve. This event will look at where the market is, the opportunities and challenges it faces and where it needs to go to move to the next level. This event is for anyone servicing wealthy clients – including local and universal retail banks, private banks, IFAs, family offices, local asset managers, securities firms and others. Speakers will provide insights from experts in overseas markets and elsewhere in Asia.

Organiser: Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in partnership with Innovate Finance
Technological advances and their adoption are changing the way traditional financial institutions conduct business and the way people access services in key financial centres and in emerging economies. This Chatham House City Series conference will evaluate different policy and regulatory approaches in a changing financial services sector and assess the opportunities and risks that accompany innovation across different financial markets. Some of the areas the conference will cover include: which regulatory models have proven successful in delivering value to consumer markets; where can frameworks be replicated and what role do regulators have; what systemic risks and opportunities  accompany ongoing technological innovations across mobile, crypto and cloud; what potential do these have to change the way people do finance and how can the risks be mitigated; how will ongoing political transitions continue to impact the financial services landscape; how will shifting priorities manifest themselves in regulatory approaches and frameworks; how do priorities and capacities differ across developed and emerging markets and how can regulators most effectively advance experimentation, inclusion and stability. The conference will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
